Retention

Retention rates nationally have been dropping in recent years (most notably in private institutions).  In marked contrast, Menlo College is proud of the way our students have demonstrated their commitment to their Menlo College education through consistent year-to-year increases in our retention rate, as represented below.

We credit many factors to the increasing success of Menlo College students, including:

  • Admission of more qualified students
  • Proactive advising by the Academic Advising Center
  • A wide variety of academic support services
  • Growing reputation*
    • The Princeton Review "Best in the West" college for 5 years in a row
    • U.S. News & World Report "Best Regional College" in 2014
  • Recent AACSB accreditation**

Graduation Rate

College is often billed as a four-year endeavor, but nation-wide, most students do not earn a degree in that time frame.   At Menlo College, we are increasingly making a four-year graduation goal a reality.

In the United States, only a minority of students graduate in four years, according to data reported in a U.S. News & World Report survey.   Even more troubling is that the graduation rates have held steady in recent years.

Menlo College is bucking the trend.  Our four-year graduation rate has climbed over the last five years, reaching 60% for the most recent cohort (excluding students who transfer to another institution), as illustrated below.

Many of the same factors that contribute to our retention rate also drive increasing graduation, including:

  • Admission of more qualified students
  • Proactive advising by the Academic Advising Center
  • A wide variety of academic support services
  • Growing reputation*
    • The Princeton Review "Best in the West" college for 5 years in a row
    • U.S. News & World Report "Best Regional College" in 2014
  • Recent AACSB accreditation**
