COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – When a wrestler competes for a spot representing the United States in international competition, anything less than is bound to disappoint. Much to the chagrin of sisters Katherine and Sara Fulp-Allen – current and former Menlo College grapplers, respectively – a third place finish was in the cards for both at the 2009 World Team Trials during the final weekend in May. ATHERTON, Calif. – A groundbreaking group of six former Menlo College student-athletes was selected to enter the Menlo College Athletics Hall of Fame it was announced Thursday by Athletic Director and Hall of Fame Selection Committee member Keith Spataro. The Class of 2009 includes football standout Mark Speckman, who was born without hands and travels the country as a motivational speaker; Heather Hoffman-Galuteria, the first ever women’s basketball inductee; record-breaking football pass-and-catch combo Zamir Amin and Nate Jackson; Brooke Richardson, the only volleyball player to have her jersey retired; and former PGA Tour golfer Al Geiberger. full story
EMRY, VEGAS NAMED NAIA ALL-WEST REGION

ATHERTON, Calif. – Two Menlo College juniors were named to the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association NAIA All-West Region First Team when it was announced last week. Designated player Courtney Emry and second baseman Alisha Vegas were named to the 16-player team as the Oaks were one of four schools to have multiple players selected. full story

However, the true impact Oaks student-athletes make can only be measured by looking inside the classroom and around the community.
