Menlo College 1000 El Camino Real Atherton, CA 94027
Each Menlo College student resident shall be assigned a CISCO 7960 IP telephone and voice mailbox. The phone number will appear at the top of the phone's display screen. The telephone is intended for use by the student resident during the terms of residency at Menlo College, and will only operate when plugged in at the Menlo College residence halls. Regular analog telephones, fax machines, and modems will not function in the residence halls.
All telephones provided to students are property of Menlo College. Each student shall be responsible for his or her telephone during the terms of residency. When moving out of the residence halls, students are required to return their telephones to the Office of Information Technology. Upon returning the telephone, the student will be given a receipt indicating that his or her telephone was properly checked in.
Telephone service is provided as part of the Menlo College room and board package. Students will be billed only for their calls at flat rates. Monthly bills will be generated and sent to student campus mailboxes and by email by SoftCopy Technologies Inc. Phone bills must be paid in full within 30 days of the billing date. Failure to pay the phone bill within the 30-day period will result in suspension of telephone service. All payments and account inquiries shall be submitted to SoftCopy Technologies.
Permission to use the phone system at Menlo College is a privilege afforded to students. Any student who is determined to be using the phone system in a way that may be considered illegal, fraudulent, or against Menlo College policy will be brought before the College conduct system and depending on the activity, may be referred to federal and civil authorities.
The Office of Information Technology will account for all student telephones at the end of the spring term. Students who plan on living on campus during the summer may keep their service active. Any balances not paid in full on or before June 15th will be transferred to the Menlo College student account, with a service fee equaling 20% of the outstanding balance.
If you believe that your phone is not working properly within ten days of receiving it, you must report this to the Office of Information Technology. Otherwise, you will be charged for any damages to the phone upon its return.
